Tax Disc Changes Effective 1st October
Posted: August 8, 2014 | General News
The car tax disc introduced in 1921 is to be phased out.
Last year the chancellor announced that it will be phased out on 1st October 2014 in favour of an electronic register.
Your Leasing Company will still be responsible for paying for the Road Fund Licence (RFL) or tax disc each year but no paper disc will be sent to you or your drivers.
From 1st October 2014 the paper disc will no longer need to be displayed on a vehicle windscreen. Instead the registered keeper (the Leasing Company) will be responsible for ensuring that the Road Fund Licence (RFL) is paid. In the unlikely event that they fail to pay the RFL, any fines will be directed to them and not to you or your drivers.
Please could you make your drivers aware of this change and reassure them that the vehicle will remain taxed whilst the vehicle is contracted to your business.
This is the first of two cuts in red tape which will also see the paper element of the driving licence removed during 2015.
